WHAT IS CLUB VOLLEYBALL?

GOVERNING BODIES

Volleyball clubs can play in or sponsor events sanctioned by governing organizations such as USA Volleyball AAU , or JVA . Players will register at the beginning of each season for one or more of these organizations so they can participate in their events.

AGE DIVISONS

USAV and AAU have different Age divisions. At POV we follow USAV. CHART HERE

SEASON LENGTH

The duration of the season typically runs from  End of November through April and some teams June (National Teams only).

IS CLUB FOR ME?

We are looking for young ladies who are passionate about the sport and we can teach them the rest. Our teams are divided by skill level within each age group. We have team options that range from beginner to elite, and from “non-travel” to “out-of-state travel” and Regional"l to "National" Travel."

WHY IS CLUB A “MUST” FOR COLLEGE?

Club volleyball is the primary method by which college coaches recruit high school players but its not the only method. Due to the fact that both the NCAA woman’s volleyball season and girl’s high school season occur in the fall, very few NCAA programs recruit during the high school season. Instead, they utilize regional and national events during the club season, their camps and athlete contacts to see as many athletes as they can. POV teams participate in as many of these events as possible and divide our teams up by travel wishes. But understand... you don't have to travel all over the country or play year round to go Division 1 or be recruited by 8th grade or your a looser or be 6'5". This is all a lie clubs all about money sell you. We believe your summers should be for you, your family, camps and beach or other sports. We believe club is getting out of control and Directors should do better in the best interest of the kids within their program. A GREAT PERSPECTIVE ON HOW IT IS CHANGING IS HERE. at POV we believe there should be more protections for kids too. This is why we will never do a summer tryout and make a club forcing kids to be year round. We also will NEVER recruit minors to play on a team. Direct recruiting to your child gives access to adults to your child and is not in our club philosophy. If college coaches cant contact a 12 year old... neither should club coaches.

DOES IT MATTER WHAT CLUB?

It depends on how you look at it. College coaches don't look at W's or believe the most expensive clubs are the best or the ones who travel the most make the best players.. They look at your mental and physical health, your attitude, your parent's attitudes, your foundations, are you a good kid, are you a club hopper and can you grow into the next level and if you will fit in their program. It's wise to choose a program with a Director who has qualifications at the next level and who trains your child in all of these things. Coach Mo has experience as a player through the recruiting process and as a coach. She has seen almost everything. Short players in the Olympics, tall players on the bench, the best player on the team on the bench because of no chemistry, doesn't matter if you are a part of a program that goes to "nationals" if you haven't been taught all the skills needed to truly be elite or are not healthy. By the way, did you know there are  17  different National Champions in each age division and growing USAV (Qualifying and non-qualifying) , AAU (non-qualifying) , Christian (non-qualifying) , Starlings ( non-qualifying) , Volleyball Festival ETC.... so 136 so called National Champions.... Many who don't qualify to play... The question is... In the NBA there is one NATIONAL CHAMPION... in club which one is the National champion?  The Ones you qualify for or ones you don't.... so which one makes you the best? Its all about money now... and Keep mind... in volleyball the top recruit in the country never left her state... she was a multi-sport athlete who played on her small club team, played other sports, understood the game and what it meant to be apart of a team and wasn't injured and tapped out with parents who had the right attitude.

MAKING A TEAM

Each club holds its own tryout. Tryout formats vary from club to club. There is a registration fee for participating in tryouts. Usually 10 – 12 players are selected per team. At POVwe offer age groups from 10-18. If selected, a player will be offered a spot on the team and required to sign a contract, which commits that player to that club for the season. Athletes all develop at different rates so a skill level of a kid one year should not be the same to the next. Give your kid a chance to develop and put them in a program that has the experience to the reality of how great athletes are created happy and healthy.

COST

This varies by team and the number of events they will be participating in. In our program we work hard to keep the cost down. $500-$1200 for the season depending on Travel level. We also have practice play only options.

TIME COMMITMENT

Depending on the team, practice will be 2-3 times per week with a tournament 1-2 weekends a month, beginning in January. Most events are single day within the state. InState teams have one 2 day regional event at the end of season and Regional and National teams have one, 3 day event added.

WHY POV?

Not all clubs are created equal! You are comparing the experience of the coaching staff,  travel schedule, history of performance philosophy and ability to provide your child the exposure they need to perhaps play at the collegiate level, make their high school team or just simply develop in skills as a happy healthy young lady. Don't be fooled by pressure, recruiting, early tryouts or promises of positions, or people putting down qualified women. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. POV has been copied by other clubs locally since 2016 but never is duplicated : ). There is only one FROG FAMILY. Other local clubs can not match Coach Mo's and her staffs experience, qualifications, passion and dedication to the POV athletes on the court and off.
